New Kits On The Block

Club team jerseys are like babies in a family with neither contraception nor abstinence. A new one comes out every year looking not so different the ones before. And just like infant babies, these jerseys sure burn a deep hole in your pocket.

But we fans still flock to buy the latest gears of our teams as if the world is going to end if we don't. It is not that we need more jerseys. We don't (even though new fans are being born every minute, thanks mainly to that family I mentioned in the first paragraph). If you are a die-hard fan, you have, within a couple of years, probably collected enough jerseys to clothe a village in any developing country in the world.

My point is - (1) we don't really need new jerseys every year and (2) they all kind of look the same. But being a fan, I can't help but be so excited about the new Chelsea Away jerseys for 2011-2012!!!

It looks pretty smart with a hint of a retro look because of the blue patch patterns around the chest area. I think it is classy but not boring. And I usually don't like V-neck but it look good in this design.

Although I really like the look, I'm probably going to wait awhile before I buy it. I also want to see what other Adidas jerseys look like this year. Hopefully ours don't look anything like, say, Liverpool.

Also out is the new training kits which, as we all know, are a bit less expensive compared to the game jerseys.  This year, the training kits are also pretty cool. The blue square patches must be the theme this season because these training kits also have them but in different style.

One of the reason I'm excited about these new away kits and training kits is that I was disappointed with the new home kits. I liked them when they first came out but then I heard someone saying how much it looked like a Wigan Athletics jersey and that image never left my head.

So, how do you like these new kits? Which one(s) are you going to get this year?
